~Words of Principal Chief Man Many Trees~

(1.) All persons sometimes make mistakes and all mistakes can be forgiven. (2.) Bad thoughts cause an "illness" of the mind, practice optimism. (3.) Nature is not "for us". It is part "of us". All creatures, the four-legged, the plants and the winged ones are a part of our worldly family. (4.) Children are the "seeds" of our future. Plant love in their hearts and water them with wisdom and life lessons; and when they have grown, even space to grow. (5.) Avoid hurting the hearts of others, for the "poison" of your pain will always return to you. (6.) Be truthful at all times. Honesty is the "test" of one's "will" with the universe. (7.) Keep yourself "balanced". Your "mental self", your "spiritual self", your "emotional self", and your "physical self", all need to be strong, pure, and healthy. Work on the "body" to strengthen the "mind" and grow rich in spirit to cure "emotional" ailments. (8.) Make "conscious decisions" as to who you will be and how he will act and react. Be responsible for your actions. (9.) Respect the "privacy" and "personal space" of others. Do not touch the personal property of others-especially sacred and religious objects. This is forbidden.

(2.) UNITING THE DESCENDANTS OF THE OVERHILL CHEROKEES, WHO BY ORAL OR WRITTEN FAMILY DOCUMENTS, ARE DESCENDANTS OF OVERHILL CHEROKEE ANCESTORS.

(3.) THE NATION DOES NOT SEEK FEDERAL OR STATE RECOGNITION.

(4.) INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES, OR OTHER BANDS, ARE ENCOURAGED TO JOIN THE OVERHILL INDIAN NATION.
