2016 Planting of the Corn Gathering

The gathering was May 13th to 15th, at the Hakata tribal grounds across the road from Man Many Trees' house. It was well attended, and had a good spirit. Chief's family built a shelter on the site, and several members, led by Crow Hawk built a long serving table around the outside edges of the shelter.

Hawk Dancing was there teaching the kids dancing again, as well as Dancing Star. There were several dances before the ceremonies. Besides the Planting of the Corn, we had a Women's Tobacco ceremony, Men's Pipe ceremony, and several people received their names in a Naming Ceremony.

It was a little chilly at night, but otherwise, the weather was perfect.
